Bomb damage 1943 (Copyright East Kent Stagecoach) The 1930s was a volatile era to be driving buses in, particularly as World War 2 was just around the corner. During the war, drivers were in high demand. Transporting people around was still required as people struggled to maintain their everyday lives. The heavy bombing of Britain’s towns and cities made life dangerous as this photograph of bomb damage in Dover in 1943 shows.
